The Quotes of the Day Archive

I started sending out Quotes of the day to about five people after I went away to school at NAU.  I sent them all through my first year, breaking for winter and summer breaks and gradually expanding the list.  Today I have almost 30 people on my list, and it's growin' like a weed!  If you'd like to be added to the list, just mail me.   I'll gladly add anyone to the list who wants to get a dose of me-colored wisdom once a day.

It started with a simple quote my ear caught at random from a TV show I wasn't really watching. I was sitting
at my computer in my new home at Northern Arizona University, missing my
friends who had recently scattered to the four corners of the country.
This quote, therefore, hit me like a hammer:

8/25/96
"We are all stardust.. . scattered, drifting. . . but united by one voice." --Alien Nation

After a few days of thought, I decided to make a sending of quotes by e-mail
a daily occurrence. Sometimes I've had to reach for them, and its obvious,
sometimes I find beautiful nuggets of wisdom in just about everything.
The constant search for quotes has made me think about life a lot more
than I ordinarily would. And that's good. That's real good.

A quick thank-you is in order to all those who have submitted quotes over the months: Xylar Asay-Davis, Will Meyer, Jason Meyer, Jamie Thomason, Tom&Deborah Nite, Andee Nite, Leia Stewart, Brian Ailey, Chelsea Miller, Zachary Johnson, Mike Schmidt, Victoria Beschenbossel, Matt Bettelheim, Rachel Horwitz, Charlie Butterman, Jim Higuera, Justus Humphrey, Ryan Cunningham, Andy Jex, Neil Blankenship, and especially Justin Pressnall, who sent me a file of quotes that lasted for weeks.  Anyway, on with the show...

The quotes used to be listed by date issued, and were stored in huge files, each containing one year's quotes.  But after noticing that they're fairly useless to the casual browser in that format, I've divided them into several categories.  The categories are broad, but should be more useful for someone looking for quotes on a specific topic.   I plan to update them every -- ah, who am I kidding.  I plan to update them as sporadically as I update the rest of the page.
