Cartoons and Comics
Liberty Meadows is a hilarious newspaper comic strip.  On par with Calvin and Hobbes and Bloom County for a funny but sensitive look at life.

Akiko is a beauitfully drawn comic book series about the adventures of a little Japanese girl on the planet Smoo.  It's a cross between Alice in Wonderland and Star Wars with a bit of Manga thrown in for fun.  A great read for all ages.  Unfortunately, Akiko's creator has chosen to put his official site on the hated Geocities, so it is with great reluctance that I link to it.

Hiyao Miyazaki has effectively turned the world of animation on its ear with his epic Princess Mononoke, or Mononoke Hime in Japanese.  His unique vision and mastery of the form leaves the others in the dust.

Ranma 1/2 is my latest obsession.  It's a hilarious anime series with an enormous cast of surprisingly sympathetic characters.  It is, though, obnoxiously hard to find episodes that aren't dubbed or amazingly expensive.

Animaniacs is a cartoon with enough physical humor for kids, but so much sly humor for grown-ups that it's a hoot to watch.

The Non-Stick Looney Tunes Site: Big site...huge...big...giant...huge...bigbig...huge.

Neil Gaiman: The creator of nothing less than a new mythology.  He is the author of the Sandman series, the novels Stardust, Neverwhere, and Good Omens, and the translator of Princess Mononoke into English.

Jonah Wieland's Comics Resources:   With a new URL, a new look, and tons of new infor, this site has gone from mediocre to great.

Batman has always been my favorite superhero, and the first two movies, the Fox cartoon, and my recent rediscovery of The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel only reinforced that opinion (although Batman Forever was pretty bad, and Batman and Robin was a fetid cesspool).

The Tick Homepage: Dedicated to the comic and the hilarious cartoon show.  SPOOOOOONNN!
